Important aspect is to understand the importance of breathing with the diaphragm. The diaphragm is a muscle in the abdominal cavity that contracts during the inhalation. When a yogi has a posture that is imbalanced their rib cage and spine are in a position that does not allow them to correctly use the proper muscles during breathing, that leads to other muscles being over used and strained. This can be a reason of muscle stress and injury. According to yoga sutras, undeveloped and poor breathing pattern is one of the main reason to many psychological problems.
